A farm shop is offering a financial boost to the family of cancer patient Nikita Moore in their bid to fight her condition with a strict organic diet.

After reading of the crippling costs faced by the 11-year-old’s family as they follow an American expert’s advice to feed Nikita only organically-grown produce, Tish Jeffery, owner of Farrington Farm Shop in Farrington Gurney, has come to their rescue.

She has agreed to give Nikita vegetables from her own fields each week for free, easing the burden already placed on Nikita’s parents Tracey and Nicholas Trezise, from Peasedown St John, as they struggle to comprehend doctors’ warnings their child may have only three months to live.

Mrs Jeffery said: “We’ve got all sorts of stuff here, like carrots, beetroot and courgettes, all of which can be juiced for Nikita to drink.

“Quite a lot of it we can’t sell as it’s misshaped or just too big, but they’re all fine, lovely and tender, and we’d have to give it to the cows otherwise as there’s too much of it for us to eat.

“We felt we wanted to do something.”

Nikita was diagnosed withsynovial sarcoma, a cancer on her head which has spread to her lung, and has suffered four times with various forms of the disease since 1999.

Mr and Mrs Trezise have already remortgaged their home to pay for their daughter’s treatment in the US.

Mrs Trezise said: “It’s a wonderful thing they’ve offered us, I’m amazed and it all helps. It doesn’t matter if the vegetables are misshaped or not, it all goes into a juice for her to drink.

“This is overwhelming because at the moment I’m spending £20 every other day on organic stuff and I just can’t afford it.

“I’ve spoken to Farringtons and they say I can go there every other day and pick my own vegetables from the field.”

However, Mrs Trezise still needs help dreaming up exciting menus for Nikita to eat as each of her meals must be carefully prepared to be 70 per cent alkaline and 30 per cent acidic to try and force the cancer to retreat.

“I’ve just run out of ideas,” said Mrs Trezise.

“I need someone who knows what they’re doing with food. I need a two-week supply of menus I can make for Nikita so she doesn’t get so bored.”

Nikita is due to return to the Issels Clinic in California, where she is being treated, in six months’ time.

The family was last week presented with £354.97 from Tesco in Midsomer Norton to add to their fund.

Nikita’s story has also moved the hearts of printers at Westfield.

The Continuforms Holdings company has sent her family a cheque for £2,000 to help with her treatment.

“I have been crying on the phone, because to open up their letter and see that amount of money has been just wonderful,” said Mrs Trezise.

    Nikita,

Sadly, I’m not a rich man, I can’t give money, although I will try to do my bit to raise a few pounds.
But the real giving is being done by you. By your bravery and apparent good nature throughout your tribulations you have given something to all of us who have read about your fight.
All who read about you must surely be sad, but also uplifted by your bravery, your spirit - and your smiling face!

Maybe you’ve made a lot of folk realise after all that our daily moaning over our own supposed problems should put us to shame. We have nothing to moan about, not after reading how difficult it must be for you to diet like you do, and how you manage to put up with all your problems.
You can be surely be proud, not only of yourself, but of your family - and especially your obviously brilliant mum!
Good luck, Nikita - there’s a lot of us out there praying and rooting for you.
    Get well soon!!
